_DSC3294Alberto Malnati impara il basso alla “Scuola jazz di Quarto”, con Luciano Milanese e Piero Leveratto, perfezionando la conoscenza musicale con l’aiuto di grandi bassisti quali Walter Booker, Pierre Bousseguet, Ray Brown e Ron Carter.

Partecipa a festival jazz internazionali e tournée in Italia, Germania, Austria, Svizzera, Francia, Belgio, Olanda, Spagna e Canada, suonando con un considerevole numero d’importanti musicisti: Shawnn Monteiro, Jeri Brown, Kitty Margolis, Jamie Davis, Rev. Lee Brown, Clive Alive, Linda Wesley, Joe Diorio, Mike Stern, Charles Bowen, Red Holloway, Paul Jeffrey, Jesse Davis, Matt Renzi, Plas Johnson, Erich Marienthal, Lisa Pollard, Charlie Mariano, Benny Golson, Consuela Lee, Rachel Gould, Kenny Barron, Jimmi Cobb, Sangoma Everett, Rob Lopez Jimmy Weinstein, Tom Kirkpatrick, Johannes Faber, Sandro Gibellini, Andrea Pozza, Dado Moroni, Luigi Tessarollo, Rosario Giuliani, Riccardo Zegna, Andrea Melani, Dino Piana e altri ancora.

Nel 1999 ha vinto, con ATA Trio, il Barga Jazz e con il pianista Alberto Tacchini guida il “Vajrayana Quintet”.

Dal 1999 al 2011 collabora con lo chansonnier astigiano Giorgio Conte e con il pianista e compositore Nando De Luca. Fonda il quartetto “Hard beat”. Nel 2014 fonda e guida “the Buddy Bolden Legacy band”. Insegna contrabbasso e musica d’insieme e organizza seminari jazz in Genova dal 1994. Dal 1997 al 1999 è stato l’assistente di Buster Williams ai seminari jazz “We Love Jazz. Perfeziona la sua formazione accademica presso i conservatori di Genova e Alessandria.

Alberto Malnati learned to play bass at the Jazz School “Scuola jazz di Quarto”, with Luciano Milanese and Piero Leveratto, and improved his musical skills with the help of great bassists, such as Walter Booker, Pierre Bousseguet, Ray Brown and Ron Carter.
He participated to many international jazz festivals and tours in Italy ,Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Holland, Spain and Canada, playing with a large number of outstanding musicians, such as Shawnn Monteiro, Jeri Brown, Kitty Margolis, Jamie Davis, Rev. In 1999 he is the winner, with the ATA Trio, of the Barga Jazz Prize and with the pianist Alberto Tacchini, he leads the “Vajrayana Quintet”.
From 1999 to 2011 he works with the singer from Asti Giorgio Conte, and with the pianist and composer Nando De Luca. He is the founder of the quartet “Hard beat”. In 2014 he is founder and leader of “the Buddy Bolden Legacy band”. He teaches double bass and ensemble music and organizes jazz seminars in Genoa since 1994. From 1997 to 1999 he has been the assistant of Buster Williams at the jazz seminars “We Love Jazz”. He has refined his academic skills at the conservatories of Genoa and Alessandria.
